Discipleship 316 is currently running 9:00 am Sunday mornings in the Family Life Center. The following courses are being offered:

  1. "Understanding the Scriptures" will focus on Biblical Themes that tie the Scriptures together, such as the relationship of the Old Testament to the New Testament, the Exodus and Jesus Christ, the People of God, and understanding Biblical prophecy. Taught by Kelly Vickers, Room 212.

  2. "Functional Foundations for the Family"  is a class for all ages.  Come join us as we look at parenting, the needs of children, how to stand strong and thrive in a changing world, how scripture guides us, and much more.  This will be a collaborative, welcoming, and interactive class. Taught by Brenna Vickers, Room 211.

  3. "Communicating Spiritual Truth Through Biblical Storytelling"
Since 75% of the Bible is narrative, there are unlimited ways to use story to communicate spiritual truth. This class will be a practical hands-on way to learn stories that you can use for outreach and discipleship. It will also explore why and how stories seem to be more effective than other more literate ways of communicating the gospel. Taught by Craig Hanscomb, Room 217.

Monthly Prayer Focus

40 Days of Prayer Week 4: Revelation 4:10-11
The POWER of God

Creation is a profound demonstration of God’s omnipotent power and His ability to create something new out of nothing. The intrinsic nature of creation not only demonstrates the infinite wisdom of the omniscient God, but also demonstrates the authoritative power of his Word, with which the entirety of creation was made. We read throughout the Scriptures about the manifestation of God’s power time after time as He moves to fulfill His plan and purposes for His chosen ones. He is naturally supernatural. His Word reveals that He is above and beyond seasons, circumstances, human realities, and the forces of darkness. His power has no comparison. by Isaac Charles

GABON

Please pray for the following requests from Bongolo Hospital staff:

  • The electrical system--the local power company has been having technical difficulties, causing it to be unable to provide consistent power to this entire region of Gabon. Because of this, the hospital has had to use the backup generator much more than usual, which costs a lot for fuel and wears down the generator.

  • The water system--there have been some issues with our station/hospital’s water system which have caused us to have frequent water outages and low water pressure.

  • Finances for the hospital--the Gabonese insurance company still hasn’t paid their bill, making it hard for us to be place medicine orders and cover salaries. Pray for God’s provision.

  • Hospital leaders need wisdom and encouragement as they navigate these challenges.

  • Teammates continue to have sick family members back in the United States.

Kosovo

Intercede for a local believer who is finishing an initial round of chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Pray for her to be strengthened physically and for restorative rest. Pray, too, for clear scans in the coming week or so and good news moving forward!

January 31 is the International Day of Prayer for Kosovo. Pray for believers as they gather during that day and seek the Lord on behalf of their country. Pray for an outpouring of the Spirit to draw more people to Jesus and revive His Church in Kosovo.
